Friendship

After making the Pocket Box Mini Album, I still had some papers and embellishment left from my Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection, so I decided to make a layout out of the leftovers. 

I scrapped a picture of me and my BFF. The picture was taken a few years back which I have in my 'photos to scrap' box. I am determined to scrap all the photos in the box. Wish me luck!!

I stamped the background with bubble wrap and acrylic paint to brightened it up a little bit. Although I have to admit that I did it after I've finished the layout. The green of the paper looked a little dull to my eyes and so I decided to do a simple stamping.

Missing The Younger You

Ok one more layout to update today and I'm done. This layout I made just a few days ago after a tragedy has befallen me and I needed something to do to take my mind off what has happened and concentrate on something else. I am thankful that I have this art that I can escape to and clear my mind even if it's only for a few hours.

This is again a simple layout with some stamping and masking and inking. I have to start scrapping regularly again or most of my inks and mists and paints will start to dry up. Wouldn't that be just sad?

My daughter, Nadiah is 11 this year. Almost a teen now and has grown taller than me. Sometimes I wish I could turn back the clock and see her when she was a little girl again when everything is such a joy to her and the little things make her smile. But I know she has to grow up and move forward to explore the world. I just wish....

The MAHIRAH 12x12 Album

Last year I was commissioned to make a 10 page 12x12 scrapbook album by a friend of mine. The subject is her very sweet daughter, Mahirah. I enjoyed making this album and it was quite a challenge for me to come out with ideas for the layouts. I was given a free hand with the designs and incorporating a lot of the colour blue because that is Mahirah's favourite colour. She's also such a girlie girl and loves flowers, so that was great for me because so do I.

Father & Child

Hello everyone! Did you miss me? I sure do miss you all. I miss scrapping too of course but just could not find the mojo to start scrapping again.

I haven't been doing  a lot of scrapping these days but I sure hope to start again and hopefully my mojo cooperates. 

This is a layout I made some months back. Just a simple layout with a photo of hubby and Nadiah. No special techniques unless you call pasting a skill.. :D. Sometimes less is more..

 The beautiful flower is from Prima of course and I diecut the scrolls using Tim Holtz dies.

Another day, another reveal. Here's a layout that I really, really love making. It's not my usual flowery type kind of layout. Instead I used paper flowers that I made myself.

Here's my paper flowers. I love the simplicity of the layout and the grey and pink combo is very nice too. And as usual, I have quotes all over the page.

Friends Forever

It's time for another reveal. Again, I made this in February when I was on a scrapping roll. It didn't last very long. Just managed to do 4 layouts and none ever since.

This one was a layout about friendship. The girls in the photo are my school mates. Ones that I've known for more than 20 years.

 Quotes... I can never have enough of them.

It's a pretty simple layout with mostly misting and pasting and using lots and lots of flowers. You can never go wrong with pretty flowers.

Each Other

Well.. I think this blog is due for an update. Don't you think so? It's partly due to being so busy, and mostly laziness.. :p It's not that I have not been scrapping.. I have, just not very much and mostly made layouts for a commissioned project. But I did managed to make a few  layouts back in February, and only just now publishing them here in the blog.

Here is the first of the few that I made this year...

 Because I haven't been scrapping much, I have to hold myself back from shopping for any  more scrapping stuff. I try to use up whatever I have, which is quite a lot. So these are old products I'm trying to use up.

I've been hoarding that chipboard clock from Scrap FX for years and most of the stickers are remnants of 2010. 

I love quotes. And as you can see, there are a few in this layout. Some are rub ons and some which I have made myself and printed them out.

I'll post more layouts over the week, just so that it will look like I update this blog regularly.. hahaa. Until then, take care and have a lovely week ahead. And thanks for dropping by.

My Love

Remember THIS layout? The one I made after being inspired by Finnabair (Anna Dąbrowska -Pękocka). She makes amazing grungy layouts and I have been trying to figure out how she does it. At first I thought she used gesso and so that's what I used. It turned out that I was wrong because the finished effect didn't look like what it's supposed to. But at least I found a new technique. 

Two days ago, I saw on Live With Prima on Ustream that Finnabair made a tutorial video of her special grungy technique. It was amazing to see all the little details in her work - the masking, the misting of 5 Glimmer Mist colours and the 4 different types of stamps she used just to make the background. After that came the embellishment arranged around the photo and so on and so forth. 

Of course I just HAD to try making a layout. I didn't have the same products that she used, nor did I used all Prima products. I just made do with whatever I have.

Here's my take..... drum roll......

I think I'm getting the how, although mine isn't too grungy except for the embellishment part. But the colours look a little too bright for a grungy look. Some close ups

If you look closely, I masked with Tim Holtz gear mask, stamped the filigree-liked image
from Prima, script  from Fancy Pants Designs and messy spots from
 Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous.

The clock dials and the gears I got from an old Swirlydoos kit, which I have
 been hoarding a ages. The street light is from Kaiser.

I am happy with the job I did. But next time I would use darker shades of the Glimnmer Mist colours.

The Good Old Days

I had so much fun making a layout yesterday after a long break that I decided to make another one last night. I had been browsing Christine Middlecamp's blog last night and was inspired by her layering techniques. They was she just pile it up, you don't feel like everything is a mess. So armed with my Crate Paper goodies, I started layering and piling up. 

This id what I came up with:

Looks a little messy but not too bad, I think. The collection that I used is Restoration which I think goes with the old photo of me and my brothers taken some time in the 70s. If you noticed, the photo has a lot of white spots due to old age. This was actually scanned from the original photo and I decided not to do any touch ups to it just to add some uniqueness to the layout. In other words, I was just plain lazy.. hahahaa!!

Anyways, that's my attempt at layering. Needs more practice, that's for sure. Go check out Christine's work if you haven't already. She does some pretty amazing work.

Sue & Yatie

It seems like such a long time since I last scrapped and today when I decided to make a layout, I find myself weeding through my stash looking for the right paper and the right mist colour and other things. A simple layout that would usually take me an hour or two to finish ended up taking almost a whole day. Oh well, I guess it'll probably take me a few days to get my engine smooth sailing again.

Today's layout is a simple one with mostly paper and some cutting, misting, inking, stamping and rub ons. Here's what I came out with..

Using papers from Kaisercraft's Chanteuse line and one old paper from my scrap drawer, which I don't remember where it's from, I'm happy with the mixture of pink and green and cream which compliments the photo well.

The rub on quotes are from Kaisercraft and the one on the strip is from Bo Bunny Mama-razzi collection. The doileys were misted with Glimmer Mist Olive Vine and Apple Glitter, and inked with Rusty Hinge distress ink.

I originally stamped the little flowers on the grid paper and accidently stamped on the pink background paper, and thought what the heck... I might as well go all the way.. hahaaa.

The photo is of me and one of my oldest and bestest of friends, Sue. We've known each other for almost 30 years now, and I hope we'll stay friends for 30 more years!!!
