N - A Canvas From Aida Haron

Ok, I was so excited when Aida pmed me saying that she would be sending a canvas piece that she made for our swap. I have been looking forward to it since she pulled out my name for the swap in December 2009. And finally it's here!! Yipee!!

It's a beautiful piece she made for Nadiah with beautiful details and texture.

Aida is a genius at clustering her embellishment and not make it look like you just dump everything in one corner.. (errr.. I tend to do that!!). It's a mixture of highs and lows to create the perfect dimension.

Thank you once again, Aida for this beautiful canvas and for the whole other stuff for the charity.

081209 - Canvas Swap

Every once in a while, a group of us would get together and decide to do a little swap. In December last year, when we had a class with Aida Haron in KL, we all decided to do a canvas swap. I got to do one for Nadhrah and had passed the canvas through a friend on my recent trip to KL. I hope she would get it soon and will like what I've done for her.

Here's the canvas I made for her:

I used an 8x12 canvas and I think most of us used pictures taken at the class itself. Oh.. in case you're wondering what the title means... it's just the date of the class. I had included cardstock stickers which says 'Love To Scrap' and 'Eat Sleep Scrapbook'... which completely describes all of us.... and you too, I would imagine ;D

Anyway, I hope Nadhrah gets it soon and will love it as much as I loved making it for her!!!

Box of Techniques

Just over a month ago, a group of us decided to alter a box and swap with each other. Each of us had to pick out a name for whom we'll be altering for and I pulled out Sharon's.

After a few days of searching for the right box - and let me tell you that finding a box to alter in Alor Star is not that easy - I finally found one.

It's actually a box for putting in keys but I took all the hooks out and dismantled the box. I peeled off the laminated skin, sand it, paint it with black acrylic paint and varnished the whole box.

After a week of letting the varnish dry completely, I started working on it. By this time my ideas had changed so many times that the end result looks nothing at all like what I originally planned.

So this is what I made for Sharon:

I combined all sorts of art mediums and techniques to create the individual tiles and very happy with how the box turned out.

I'm glad that Sharon loved it and that's the main point.

Altered Door Hanger Swp

A while ago I took part in a door hanger swap in Brunei Scrappers Forum. My partner was Eirnna from Brunei. I haven't got the chance to post the hanger here yet so I thought I'll do so today.

I decided to alter both sides of the hanger with each being as different as can be. The front side is very shabby chic like with lots of paint, embossing, stamping and distressing. While on the other side is mainly cutouts and rub ons

This altered project is a small one and I'm thinking that it is equivalent to 3 LOs. So that brings my progress up to 33 LOs.

Target: 100 LOs
Done: 33 LOs
To do: 67 LOs

Altered Journal Swap

Last month, I took part in an altered journal swap. There were two swaps. One was for SNC and the other was for ScrappingGlitz.

The one in SNC was for Jessy and this is the journal that I made for her:

The one in ScrappingGlitz, was for Ija. I made this for her:

I received these
from them. The one on the left is from Ija and the right, from Jessy. Thanks, ladies. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

Paint Your World With Colours CD Mini Album

I took part in a Rainbow Swap in Scrap-n-Crop Forum, which was hosted by Jessy. Each of us were to assemble a kit consist of materials of the colours of rainbow. I received mine from Jessy herself, a colourful collection that also included a mini album made from old CDs.

I tried to use all of the items that I received but they were just too many and in the end I still had plenty of buttons and tags left.

Each of the pages of the album, Jessy had stuck solid colour cardstock. I decided to either distressed, embossed or adhere paper cutouts to give them different looks and textures.

I used rub ons from Autumn Leaves, Fancy Pants Design, Daisy D's and 7Gypsies for the quotes (I LOVE quotes!!), Basic Grey alphabet stickers and Making Memories and American Craft paper cutouts. All the other materials are from Jessy.

SnC ATC Swap

We have another ATC swap at SnC. I love ATCs. They're small and cute and thus very small area to embellish. The only fuss about ATC swaps is that you have to make a lot of them. This time there are 12 to be made and I don't think I can come up with 12 different designs. And so I decided on 2 designs: 6 of each.
Each ATCs must have two things: paint and stamping

For the second design, I used Mod Podge to adhere the beads to the paper. I just dab some Mod Podge and sprinkled the beads. When it's dried, I dab more Mod Podge over the beads to hold everything in. The only problem is, you can see the stain of the adhesive and in this last picture, even more so...

Recipe Swap

I took part in a Recipe Swap held at Scrap-N-Crop Forum and has finally finished my recipe cards. I prepared a recipe for Tom Yum Kung.

So far I have received from Nad and Michelle. There are still 6 more recipes to go. I found a box which fits the recipe cards nicely. I can't wait to receive from everyone so that I can fill up the box. Later on I'll try to add more recipes which are in my file folder at the moment. I love just looking at the box. It just makes me feel like cooking something up... :D

Simply Adorable

Here's another sneak peak reveal. A layout that I made for Jessy for the Photo Swap Challenge in Scrap-N-Crop Forum. All participants were to submit a photo which would then be distributed to a secret partner who would then make an LO, and then mail the finished LO to the partner.
