Missing Tooth

This is a layout about Nadiah's first tooth that came off. She made so much fuss while it was shaky but still stuck to her gums that it was a picture perfect moment when it finally came off. My mom had a hand in wrapping a thread around the tooth and pulling it out. Now whenever any of her tooth feels shaky, she would get some thread and bring it to me so
that I could pull it out.

I'm especially happy with this layout because I managed to use some of the scrap papers that's making a mountain in the drawer. Those strips of patterned paper are scraps. Also, those oval shaped tags are actually the punch out from Basic Grey Mini Monograms Diecuts. You know, those parts in the letters o, p, g, d,b etc that you don't want.

So rather then throwing them away, I decided to use them as mini tags.

More Work In Progress

An altenate page album....

The backgrounds are ready. All I have to do are stick some photos and embellish, and it's finished. The thing is... I have not decided on the photo theme.

A sneak peak:

A Tiny Miracle

Nadiah was born premature. I cought this picture about a month after she was born, which was sometime after she got out of the hospital. It just amazes me how tiny she was then everytime I look at this picture. She was so small that I hardly dare to hold her, let alone bathe her and feed her...

My miracle baby.

I decided to enter this LO for a challenge in Scrappin Kids. The challenge is about when we first become a mother. I love all the other LOs that's been submitted. The love that shines through the pictures of a mother's love was apparent indeed, and it's great that we get to preserve that moment by scrapping about it.

Smidapaper

I was in Penang on Saturday and took a quick visit to Smidapaper. Gosh! What a lovely store they have and the owners are just lovely. There were so
many stuff to look through in my limited time and was spoiled for choice.
I managed to grab some stamping supplies, chipboards, embossing supplies and a few others. Spent up to.... well let's just say that I collected 29 stamps in their new Best Friend Program.
You do the math.

To I-Mei, Esther and company.... thanks for a lovely treatment. I'll definately be back!!

Take A Walk

A layout on Nadiah trying her Mak Tok's shoes. Although in the picture they look like they fit her feet well, the shoes are actually way too big for her.

Pretty White Dress

This one is a layout on Nadiah sitting on the swing looking pretty in an all white dress that Mak Tok made for her. It's hard to see her looking so girlie these days because she's always running around in pants.

I'm particularly proud of the new technique that I tried out which is masking. The stamped leaves on the left look like they are on top of each other without smudging the leaf on the bottom.

Lollipop

I just had to make at least one LO. Took a break from beading and did a fast and simple LO of Nadiah and her lollipop

Colourful Stash

Sometimes I would take out all my embellishment boxes, open them all up and spread them out on the table and just look at them. They're so colourful and makes me smile when I'm just looking at them.

A Great Alternative

A few weeks ago, my  husband saw this

in a scrapbook magazine and asked what it was. So I explained to him that it was a planning board with super strong magnets that would keep all the papers and embelishments in place without adhering any of them. It gives you freedom to move everything around in case you change your mind about the layout. He just nodded and continue browing the magazine.

So one day, we were out shopping and was passing through the stationery section, he came up to me with these:

I was confused at first until he explained that the magnetic board and magnets could be alternatives to the Show and Tell Box. So he got it for me... well, he got it OFF the shelves for me but I still had to pay for them. Hey, it's a cheap alternative and it works almost the same!!

But I'm most happy because first, I got him reading a scrapbook magazine; and second, he remembers what he reads and was even interested in offering ideas to better my scrapbooking projects. That is just great. Before long, I'll have him buying tools and supplies for me... heheehe!!

Maya Road 6x6 Mini Album

These arrived on Wednesday from Scrappingville. I so loved the mini book binder when I first did the Book of Dania Mini Album that I has to have 2 more to make for Nadiah. I called up Scrappingville and asked if they could mail the albums to me and they did. Thanks very much to Yazmin for being ever so helpful.

I have not decided what album they would be on but I can imagined it would be very colourful indeed. At the moment I've got to give scrapbooking a second place for I've got loads of beading to do till hari raya. I'm forcing myself not to pick up any tools or look
through the magazines that I'm practically shaking with scrapbooking withdrawl symptoms... hehee!!

Accordion Mini Album With Rings

Phew!! I finally finished the accordion mini album. This one I made everything from scratch. Bought a big chipboard sheet and cut out seven 5"x6" page pieces. I decided to name this album Nadiah.... The First Year. It shows Nadiah's photos from when she was a month old till a year old. Each two of the 14 pages has the same background but with different layouts. They are connected with ring binders and tied with a strand of ribbon so that I can hang them up for display.

First Sale

Wow!! My first ever scrapbook LO sale!

A week ago when I showed my friend, CA, the mini album, she was very interested to have a LO made on her parents. So that she can frame it and have it hanged in their new house. I agreed to do so. It would be my first 12"x 12" LO.

This is the result:

psst.... that's the guy who made the frame for this LO

I am so proud of myself because:
1) I made those 'z' and 'f' chipboad letters myself,
2) my first try at a distressed look using my newly bought Tim Holtz Distress Ink,
3) and I used Versa Watermark Ink Pad to get those watermark effect on the background of the cardstock

I hope CA loves it. Unfortunately she wasn't able to see the end result because she has already gone back to KL. I left the LO with her sister and hope CA will get to see it ASAP.

CA, what say you???

Work In Progress

I am in the middle of two projects.

1) An Accordion Mini Album with ring binders which I made about Nadiah's first year. This is a 5x6 album. I bought a big sheet of chipboard at the stationery shop which only cost me RM2.20 and cut out all the chipboard pages myself. Done all of the layouts except for the cover. Hope to get to finish it soon. Here's a sneak peak

2)Another Accordion Mini Album but this time using cardstock as the pages. The cover is chipboard wrapped in patterned paper.

I've yet to decide what this album will be about. I just made it on a whimp when I saw how easy it was to make it. Finished it in just an hour.

There are a few more projects I have in mind to make, which includes an Exploding Box but would have to put those on hold because I've got so many things to do right now.
