A Baby Duck Encounter (TS #010)

It's another Twisted Sketches week for me. This week is sketch #010 and the twist is to use TAGS. See the sketch here.

Here's my take:

Photos are of Nadiah's close encounter with a baby duck. She was scared out of her wits at first but also curious. After a while she was able to get up, close and personal with the duckling and even had a go holding.. (or should I say squeezing) the little ball of yellow fluff.

I had fun with this layout, using Prima Marketing felt matties which I cut in half and lay it down side by side. ANd if you look closely, that white paper with grids on it, is actually the backing which comes with the matties in the packaging. Recycling, I'd say, is good fun!!

Materials used:
Diecut patterned paper: Collage Press. Journaling card (tag): Creative Imagination. Felt: and flowers Prima Marketing. Chipboard element: Pink Paislee. Alpha stickers: American Crafts, Basic Grey. Rub ons: Pink Paislee, Crate Paper, Basic Greay, October Afternoon. Others: Buttons and ribbons.

Altered Mirror for Nad

I was stumped for ideas of what to get Nad for her birthday in July and in the end I decided to make her something.

I had bought a few of those IKEA mirror frames and they were just sitting there gathering dust so I thought I might as well alter one for Nad.

Met her over the weekends and passed it on to her. I'm happy to say that she loved it, so it was well worth the job.

Here's the altered mirror:

Faces Of You (SIC August Challenge)

Hi everyone. It's been some time since I've had the time to do much scrapping. Most that I've done are for DT jobs.

Anyway, this month Scrap|Inspire|Create has an interesting challenge for you over at their blog. For August, you are to make a layout with a collage of ATCs in it. The number of ATCs used is not specified, so you can make as much as you like.

Here's my take:

I made 4 ATCs to show the different expressions of Nadiah's. I made the background and papers surrounding the ATCs are mostly earthy colours so that the vibrant look of the ATCs would stand out.

So hop over to SIC to enter August challenge or just to ooohhs and aahhhs the other DT's fantastic job!!

Pinky (Twisted Sketches #008)

This week's twist to the Twisted Sketches is using flowers in a layout, card etc... Of course I love making this layout because I just love flowers. The more, the merrier.. LOL!!!!

Anyway, here is the sketch, and he's my take on the sketch:

I definitely loved making this layout. Not only I get to used those Prima flowers, but also Basic Grey doilies. They are just too gorgeous for words!!!

The photo is of Nadiah having a glass of orange juice along the river near our place. What I wanted to capture is the way she's holding her straw, with her little pinky sticking up. In fact every time she has a drink, be it in a cup or a glass, her pinky will always be sticking up when she lifts them. It's just so cute!!

Do hop over to TS to see the other DTs' beautiful work and do give this sketch a try!!

A Weekend Of Challenges

Last weekend there were some online challenges at Scrappin Kids Forum hosted by Michelle, Pia and Issa. I had been off scrapping for some time it seems, that I decided to take up their challenges.

Sorry that I'm only just posting the layouts because it has been such a crazy week with Nadiah running a high fever and answering phone calls non-stop and getting everything ready for my upcoming beading embroidery classes, that I've hardly any time to breath.

Anyway, here are the layouts that I did for the challenges

1) Michelle's challenge
To scraplift any of her previous layouts.I decided the more simple of her layouts and gave it a little flip horizontally and came up with this

That's a picture of Nadiah with her telescope which she made with kitchen towels tube. I mainly used products from Crate Paper Mia collection. It's a lovely shades of purple and pink and just a little bit of blues.

2) Pia's challenge
To make a layout of a photo with anything homemade, be it cooking wise or arts and crafts or anything that is homemade. This is my take:

I caught this photo the very morning and though how appropriate it would be to make a layout about homemade love. Again, I used Crate paper Mia collection for this layout. I just love that line.

3) Issa's challenge
A layout to use only chipboard and patterned paper.
Here's my take

Ok, I cheated with those ribbons and trims. It's was a case of being too lazy to cut out paper strips.. hahaa!!

Well, all in all I had fun making all these layouts even though I wasn't in the running. Winners have not been announced yet as I'm typing this but I'm sure we'll know soon. Do hop over here to see the beautiful entries.
