The Kiss

This is a layout I made for Swirlydoos Round Robin forum challenge for the month of March. I was team #4 and so went last, lifting the layout of the person before me, Maria. Please go HERE to see Maria's beautiful layout.

So here's my take:



Photo of Nadiah giving that baby duck a kiss. But she's actually sitting in the car while the duck is outside with the window safely between them :D

I cut out strips of SEI velvet paper to make the ruffles around the circle. Love that velvet paper!!

Another stamping on acetate, which I'm loving at the moment.

The Christmas papers were generously given to me by Nad and although I don't celebrate Christmas, there are a lot of other ways to use the papers.

Photos are of Nadiah learning to skate. She fell a few times but I suspect she pretended more than the actual fall :D. I used WP's little alpha stickers to journal "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again".

Your Favourite Hat

Finished this yesterday for another forum challenge over at Swirlydoos. Basically the challenge is to ink, spritz, colour and dye everything. Or rather, to change the original colour of the items that we use in the layout.

Here's my take:

I spritzed the die cut paper with Maya Road Mist (Pink) and Glimmer Mists (Key Lime Pie and Timeless Lilac) and did the masking thing using Tim Holtz masks. Then I added those Maya Road clock rub ons. Cut out some velvet paper (did I tell you how much I LOVE that velvet paper? Well, I DO!!!) and distress the edges a little.

The flowers are all originally white. I spritzed more Glimmer Mist and Maya Road mist.

Inked 'HAT' with Tim Holtz distress ink (Blak Soot) and also a little on the mesh which was originally white too. But the black on the mesh turned out a little light so I spritzed tons of Glimmer Mist in Graphite to get a darker colour.

Swirly blings are my absolute favourite!! If I have tons of them. I would put swirly blings on ALL my layouts.. :D. These ones were a combination of crystals and grey and very light pink pearls. I decided to use alcohol ink (Terra Cotta) on the pink ones. It was a little tricky applying the ink as I had already laid down the blings. But I managed using the end of a pin.

Spritzed more of the green Glimmer mist on white cardstock and punched out the alphas.



Photo in the layout is of Nadiah in her absolute favourite hat. She goes everywhere in them except to school. Only because it's not allowed though or believe you me, she would don the hat in school too. When she goes to bed every night, the hat would be at the end of the bed. It's a precious hat. I wouldn't want to imagine what it would be like if we somehow manage to loose it. Uh-ah... hopefully that's not going to happen....

081209 - Canvas Swap

Every once in a while, a group of us would get together and decide to do a little swap. In December last year, when we had a class with Aida Haron in KL, we all decided to do a canvas swap. I got to do one for Nadhrah and had passed the canvas through a friend on my recent trip to KL. I hope she would get it soon and will like what I've done for her.

Here's the canvas I made for her:













I used an 8x12 canvas and I think most of us used pictures taken at the class itself. Oh.. in case you're wondering what the title means... it's just the date of the class. I had included cardstock stickers which says 'Love To Scrap' and 'Eat Sleep Scrapbook'... which completely describes all of us.... and you too, I would imagine ;D

Anyway, I hope Nadhrah gets it soon and will love it as much as I loved making it for her!!!

Grateful For You

I used Webster's Pages for this layout. I can't stop buying them because they are so beautiful. But I just close one eye and cut them out because if I don't, I know they'll just be sitting in the rack collecting dust. So here's my take:






I found a square doiley paper which I like very much. Most times I see circles or sometimes heart shapes or oval doiley papers and so this one is a little different. I inked with distress ink and spritzed with some Glimmer Mist.

My Sweet Girl

Hello everyone!!!

I've been really busy working on a few layouts and a couple of canvases, but I'm only able to reveal 1 LO today. Today's layout has lots of glitters and flowers, giving it an apt interpretation to the Bollywood papers I used from Far Flung Craft.









It's one of my favourite photos of Nadiah; just woken up from sleep and rolling around on the bed.

I got the idea of the sticking down the fiber along the circle from Marion Smith of A Piece of Craft. She does beautiful work and her videos are great.

Nadiah

Hey everyone!!

Here's a new layout I just finished for another Swirlydoos challenge that's being hosted by Peggy. There are a few conditions to the challenge, which are:
- based on a sketch in the gallery and turn in 90 degrees either way
- use 3 flowers
- use 2 butterflies
- use 1 large ribbon
- Layout has to be at 50% from Swirlydoos kit

So here's my take:











This time I scrapped about Nadiah's name. haven't done that before. Her name means 'giving' and 'honoured' in Arabic.

Two of the flowers are from Prima and I added one chipboard flower from ScrapFX which I ran some stickles on it. I hope that counts as the third flower.

I am loving stamping flourishes on transparency and cut them out. It's a great way of using my stamps. This time the flourishes are from Hero Arts clear acrylic stamps; of which I have not used in simply ages.

Just Plain Happy

I've been waiting and waiting and finally it arrived yesterday. What is IT? It's my first Swirlydoos scrapbook kit. Woohoo!! I've been browsing around for a kit club for some time now and finally decided to subscribe to Swirlydoos. The items that I get in the kit just shouts ME!!! Lots of flowers, flourishes, blings and with manufacturers like Prima, 7Gypsies, Creative Imaginations, amongst others, who could resist.

If you go to Swirlydoos Forum, there will be lots of challenges, tutorials and a bunch of fun stuff that can help you use up your kit just in time for the next month.

So the first layout that I did is based on a sketch that was included with the kit. The sketch is designed exclusively for Swirlydoos by Begahhuna.










Every single item I used in the layouts comes from the kit. Well, except for the photos and the pink cardstock I used to mat 2 of the photos. Pretty stuff huh? That plain maroon coloured paper behind the photos and that I cut into a borber is actually velvet paper. It's so beautiful!! The back of the velvet is paper and so it was easy for me to draw the waves and cut into a border strip.

I just added some distress ink to the paper, flourishes, ric rac and chipboard alphas and some distress stickles on the flourishes to give some texture.

No Guilt All Pleasure

This is a layout I made this morning for Challenge #124 over at Scrapping The Music. This week's song is "What's So Bad About Feeling Good" by Ben Lee. There are so many scrappable lines in the lyrics that I was hard pressed to choose just one. In the end I decided to go with "no guilt all pleasure' to go with this picture of Nadiah on the swing.

This is my take:












That black patterned paper is from Chatterbox. It's flocked and just so beautiful. I bought a few of them... red, white, black, flocked, glittered. I can't get enough of 'em.

Layout was based on another Begahhuna sketch. Although I turned and flipped the original sketch.

The flourishes are stamped on transparency. I stamped a bunch of them and just cut one or two out whenever I need them. So much easier than cutting out swirly paper. Again, I managed to used scraps for most of the papers. I'm going to try and use at least half of my paper scrap collection by the end of the year. Hope I can do it. But it's usually use one tiny bit and dump in three big pieces in one sitting. Sigh....

Color Fun

This week at Twisted Sketches the twist is FABRIC. It's been such a hectic week for me that I have to admit that this is not my best work. It was a rushed job and I used whatever fabric was on hand. It's a picture of Nadiah making window art... you know, those peel-and-stick glass paint. As there was a lot of colours in her 'cake', i decided to cut out colourful fabric circles to compliment her art. That's the fastest usage of fabric that I could think of...
