Sing Like No One Is Listening

A new layout recently completed for Scrap The Girls February challenge. This month layouts are to be made inspired by this quote:

"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth." — Mark Twain

It's a beautiful quote and I just can't resist playing along. Here's my take:






I was out of patterned papers with music notes on them so I sacrificed my old piano book and tore of the notes to Frank Sinatra's My Way. The song is my absolute favourite to sing at a karaoke, which was what I was doing in the photo.

Originally, the layout I did was without that blue and white flower from Far Flung Craft patterned paper and that Jenni Bowlin journaling card which was placed sideways. But naughty Nadiah decided to 'help' and stuck those two with wet glue and by the time I found out what she did, they were completely glued down.

Well.... I just had to work with it. After all, there are no mistakes in scrapping, only creativity!!

Good morning!!

Here is my last layout for Far Flung Craft and I have to say that this is my absolute favourite of the six and so I saved the best for last. :D

Half of the items I used in this layout comes from typical scrapbooking manufacturers, but the other half are those I found at the local haberdashers or RM1.99 shop like the frame, butterflies, lace and doiley papers. I know these items are not acid free and all but I've never really cared much about that. This is art and creativity is limitless!!





I inked the frame with alcohol ink so that It wouldn't be too gold!! I'm always happy to use alcohol ink because I very seldom find the need to use any.




Love the look of the ditress stickles on the chipboard swirls. I actually inked them with distress ink (Broken China), and then run them over with the same colour of distress stickles. Love it!!

For this layout, I used the Peranakan line.

Don't Forget To Dream

Hey all!!

I know I promised I would post my Far Flung Craft layouts everyday but it's been so hectic these last few days that I hardly had any time to sit in front of the computer, let alone to scrap. Hubby is back from the hospital after his accident and although he can move around, his right arm is still in a sling and as right being his working arm, it's awkward for him to do much of anything with his left hand. Plus Nadiah is down with fever, coughing and runny nose and is out of school for the past 3 days. So I've been running around like a crazy woman getting them comfortable and having a fighting match when it's time for medicines!!

Anyway, here's no. 5 of my FFC layout that was featured at CHA Winter 2010:









I used papers for the Chinese New Year line for this layout. The chipboard swirls at the corner of the photo I painted them with crackle paint. I love the wavy Bazzill cardstock border which was originally white but I inked it with Mustard Seed distress ink pad and inked the edges with Vintage Photo.

Beautiful Sunset

Good morning, everyone!!

Here's sharing with you my fourth layout that was showcased at the Far Flung Craft booth at the recent CHA. It's called Beautiful Sunset and I used two patterned papers from the Meiji line.





It's a simple layout where I cut out the flowers from the papers and stacked them on top of each other with foam adhesive to make it more dimensional. Added a few pieces of doiley papers which I inked with distress ink and layered underneath the flowers on the corners to make them 'pop out' a little more.

The title is made of raw chipboard letters from Maya Road which I painted with acrylic paint and went over with Ranger's Glossy Accent.

We Scrap

Today is the third of my Far Flung Craft layout. For this one, I again used patterned papers from the Peranakan line. I just love the colours.









The photo was taken on the day when Aida Haron came over to KL and gave a class. It was a super duper day and after a whole day of scrapping, we though it would be great to release some tension by snapping pictures.

That actually reminds me of the mini album we made in class that's still half done and I'd better get to completing it.

Basically this is an easy layout with cutting, inking and pasting. But I really like how the green, yellow and pink came together and blended really well with the photo.

Draw Me A Map - Let's Get Shabby Challenge #8

Here's a layout I made for challenge 8 in Let's Get Shabby. Since it's February and it's the month of lurvve..... this month it's all about Valentine's. The challenge is to include "a letter/s or note/s that you've written or been written by you or others living or passed".

Interesting right? Sure is!!

So here's my take, of which I included a hand-drawn road map that hubby did when we got engaged. It was to show the way to his parents' house. Me and my parents were going for a visit for the first time and I made him draw me a map.









Ok, technically it's not a love letter or note but I've kept it all this while, and I didn't feel like publishing our love letters to each other (hehee!!), so I guess this will do. I had it laminated in the hope that it will always be preserved.

I also included a picture of us. I can't make a layout without a picture in it...

Fly High (Twisted Sketches #035)

It's the first week for the new DT line-up at Twisted Sketches. The twist for this week is ANIMAL, any how, any way. You can see the sketch HERE and also view the other DTs' sample, full of all sorts of animals.

Here's my take:










Recently, me and hubby took Nadiah kite flying and captured some really nice pictures. In here I was pointing her kite to her that was flying high up in the sky. I made a 'kite' for the layout and drop the string down into the photo into Nadiah's hand. The animal twist is the butterfly.

All the elements has something to do with flying e.g. kite, hot air balloons and butterfly and thus the title "Fly High". The journal reads "Imagination is the highest kite you can fly"

Happy To Be Me

Ok as promised, today I'm posting the second of my layouts for Far Flung Craft that 'made it' to CHA 2010.

For this layout down here, I used papers from the Peranakan line. I have to say that of all the collections that FFC carries, Peranakan is my favourite.










Decided to scrap about myself in this one. Something short and simple and sweet. The title says it all. I am happy to be myself, and grateful too!

Wherever Life Takes You

Some time in January, I had a phone call from Michelle and she informed me that Kristy Harris from Far Flung Craft had asked her and a few other scrappers to come out with layouts or altered items to be displayed at CHA 2010, which just ended a few days ago. And guess what? Michelle then asked Jessy, Nadhrah and ME!!! How cool is that?? Even if I couldn't be at CHA, my work will be showcased at the FFC booth. What a splendid opportunity!!

I can't thank both Kristy and Mich enough for this golden opportunity and I hope that FFC did very well at CHA in Anaheim.

I submitted 6 layouts, all using beautiful FFC patterned papers. I will post those layouts one day at a time because I don't want to bore you with picture overload, and also it'll give me a reason to post something on the blog everyday.. ;D

Here's the first layout:









For this layout, I used patterned paper from the Meiji line. Love the colour combo of black red and yellow. Reminds me of fireworks.

I went with a pull-out journaling mainly because it's a long quote and I didn't have anywhere else to put it. I once read an online newspaper article written by one Brad Carmean with the same title and was very taken with one paragraph. It goes..

"Life could take you on a smooth ride or a rough one, across the sea, close to home or six feet under. You just don't know where it will take you. So just work hard on what you can control and don't worry about what you can't. The fact that you don't know where you will be down the road is why you need to enjoy everything you can now, no regrets. "

So I decided to adopt that paragraph as the journaling. You can read the whole article HERE.

Time Flies

It's the first day of February and everywhere in the world will be celebrating love this month as Valentine's Day makes its yearly appearance. But this year, we are also celebrating Chinese New Year on the same day and so Scrap-It-Lah is having a very unique challenge this month: combining both oriental and love elements in your layouts. Such a cool challenge indeed. Please drop by HERE to see the details and get your inspirations from the DTs' sample layouts.

Here is my take










The oriental elements are represented by the Chinese characters on the patterned papers I used and the colour red. The lovey-dovey elements are represented by the photos of me and hubby on our honeymoon 10 years ago and also by the heart-shaped clock chipboard piece. Incidentally, we'll be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this month too.

If you look closely at the last picture, you'll see that I purposely used a dictionary paper , on which page has the definition of LOVE. That's a subtle lovey-dovey element in that layout.

Twisted Sketches DT Changes

I'm so lucky. Why am I lucky? Because my contract with Twisted Sketches has been extended until June 2010. Yeay!!
