This I Promise You

I was looking through my stack of papers and thought an old Basic Grey paper would be fun to cut up. So I decided to cut out the flowers and made a layout out of it.

That quote card is from Cosmo Cricket and it says:
"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you."
-Winnie the Pooh

It's such a meaningful quote and so I titled this LO, This I promise You.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Bazzill. Patterned papers: Making Memories, Kaisercraft, Basic Grey. Flowers: Prima Marketing, from a RAK. Pearls: Kaisercraft. Chipboard scroll: Maya Road. Inks: Tsukineko Brilliance, Versa cube. Journaling card: COsmo Cricket. Foam alphas: American Crafts. Crystal leaves and lace: local shop. Alcohol ink.

Beautiful

I just finished another layout for a challenge site called Scrap The Girls. This month, the challenge is to scrap a layout inspired by this picture:

I love the colours in the picture and was mostly inspired by the colours pink and green. And so I did a layout with Nadiah on the swing and titled it Beautiful. The title is actually part of the lyrics to one of my favourite songs, Beautiful In My Eyes by Joshua Kadison. I love that song. Instead of writing my own journal, I decided to write part of the lyrics.

Now playing: Joshua Kadison - Beautiful In My Eyes

Materials used:
Patterned papers: Fancy Pants Designs, American Craft, My Mind's Eye, Cherry Arte. Transparencies: Hambly Screen Prints. Chipboard alphabets: American Crafts. Fav Dress (Color Combo Challenge #106)

I found this challenge site called Color Combos Galore while browsing and blog hopping. The monthly challenges are somewhat different from the usual themed challenges. This one is more of a colour challenge. Each month, we are given a combination of colours this is the rule:

"You must use all the colors in the Combo any way you wish but stay true to the Color Combo. You are allowed to add in a neutral like black, white and kraft. You may also add another color but it should not dominate any of the other colors of the Combo."

I thought it was interesting and decided to try my hands at it.

This month, the colour combos are:

So here's my take for the challenge:

Materials used:
Cardstock: Bazzill. Patterned papers: SEI, Making Memories. Lace cardstock and border sticker: Creative Imaginations. Flowers: Prima Marketing. Wooden flower: Kaisercraft. Journaling card: Bo Bunny. Chipboard alphabets: American Craft. Buttons: Making Memories. Crystal leaves: local shop

My Girl

This is for the 2nd challenge that Vivs hosted over at BSF for January. It's the one that we have to stamp the background of our paper. I've been giving this a lot of thought and today I finally got an idea of how to do it. It's like a light bulb just went on in my head and I saw how to do it and what to use. I used a lot of Prima products (yes, I heart Prima!!) Some I've got in my stash for a while but had no idea how to use it.

So here goes:

First I inked the cardstock using TH Distress ink pad (Vintage Photo). Then I stamped the whole of the background with Fancy Pants Designs wording stamp using StazOn ink in Sable. Then I stamped over the wordings with Prima floral stamp and Fancy Pants Designs flourishes, also using StazOn ink pads. Lastly I stamped and embossed the numbers and flower with black embossing powder. And there you have a selfmade patterned paper.

Materials used:
Bella! stitched cardstock, Prima Marketing flower, felt gate, glittered transparency, clear stamp. Fancy Pants Designs clear stamps. Stamp It rubber stamp. StazOn ink pads. Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad. Heidi Swapp edge distresser. American Craft glittered chipboard alphabets. Daisy D's cardstock sticker. Jenni Bowlin journaling card. Tsukineko Watermark ink pad and black embossing powder. Lace and glittered vines from local shop.

Weekend Challenges @ ScrappinKids

Last weekend I entered some challenges by the DTs of ScrappinKids at their forum. Challenges were posted on Saturday 8pm and are to be finished by 5pm the next day. I registered for the challenges a week ago and totally forgot about it until I checked the forum threads early Sunday morning. The trouble was, I was away from home and my scrapping table. I only got home around 12.30pm and rushed to do the challenges. I managed to scrapped 4 LOs and 1 card, took pictures, upload and post on the respective threads with just 5 minutes to spare. But I have to admit that all through the morning I sketched and planned which pictures and papers to used and how to embellish the LOs. It made my work easier and I spend less time on each LOs.

These were the challenges:

Michelle
"The Que Sera Sera Challenge:
Remember the song Que Sera Sera? Whatever will be will be...
Well - I want the participants to d a layout of what the kids aspire to be when they grow up. It can be like like - he may want to be Bob the Builder or he may have an ambition to be a Policeman. I think it will be quite fun..."

Yvette
"Just make a 1-photo LO about your kid/s but the photo size should NOT BE SMALLER than 4r (4x6). It can be bigger, of course. And you have to use your own handmade embellishment/s. And also, there should be journalling."

Cookie & Issa
"guess what's Cookie and I's favorite scrapbooking elements? The thing that we love working on in our pages?" They has some example LO and the only thing I could see in every LOs are multiple photos. So that's what I did.

Vivs
"We rarely scrap about our fears or phobias. How about letting out some of those fears/phobias or maybe just your fear/phobia in a layout.
To create a 12x12 Layout and tell us about your FEAR(S) or PHOBIA(S). Do include a Journaling in your layout."

Jessy
"Making shaped cards is a lot of fun!!
For this challenge your card needs to be shaped like an item-not square / rectangle.
It can be round, shape of a house, heart, etc.
One more twist to this is that you have to include an owl in your card."

Online Crop at BSF

Last Thursday I took part in an online crop hosted by Jazz over at BSF. As usual, we have to take up the challenge of finishing a layout within an hour with little twists and turns. There were three layouts to do and three whole hours of everyone going frantic trying to figure out what to put on a layout while at the same time glancing at the clock every other minute. But it was fun although I didn't have much MOJO that night and was practically sticking whatever within reach of my hands. Just could not be creative that night.

Even so, I managed to win a prize for finishing first in the third round, although my LO was so blurghhh!! Thank you, Jazz for hosting such a cool crop and for the prize. Congrats to the other winners: Zizi, Janiah, Wati and Eirnna. And well done to the others too for churning out LOs after beautiful LOs that night.

Here are my takes, although I did some repair here and there to the layouts the next morning but you can see all the LOs for that night here. I only did 2 LOs because I was busy with Nadiah in the first round and opted out of that round.

Challenge #2:
Let's Smile!
Let the word SMILE be the feature for this challenge.
BUT there is a twist....you have to use these elements in your LO:
2 ribbons
4 buttons
6 flowers
only patterned papers - NO cardstocks
and there must be journaling in your layout

Love these multiple faces of Nadiah's

Online Challenge #3:
Layer it on!
We're gonna layer away here!
But here's what you gotta use in your layered LO:
- 3 pics
- more than 3 papers (cardstock or patterned papers)
- 10 flowers or more
THE TWIST: I wanna see lots of layered effects here! Let your creativity loose!!

Gift Exchange

Some time ago, I made a little canvasses for Nad and I've forgotten to post it up here. It's 4 little canvas measuring at 2"x2" each and mounted on a 5"x5" canvas.

When I met up with her to give her the canvas, surprise surprise, she also had a little something for me. It's a beautifully decorated cheeseboard. I love the stamping on the background. Such a cool technique she applied. Thanks, Nad!!

My Baby

This month there are three challenges to try out over at Brunei Scrappers Forum (BSF), all are hosted by Vivs. The first is to alter a recycled package or box or anything. I digged and digged around my space and finally found an old K&Co chipboard box. It has a see-through window on the front which I though would be great to pop a photo inside the box.

So I adhered paper to cover the front, distress and blend some ink and stamped on it. Added some flowers and leafy cut outs. Added a heart-shaped felt and a crown with blings. Got out my glittery chipboard Thickers, and voila!!!

An old picture of Nadiah when she was about 6 months old. Ooohh.. those chubby cheeks!!

Anyway, this project didn't take me too long to do and I don't think it is worth 3 layouts. So I'm going to equal this to 2 LOs. Which makes 13 LOs so far for this year.

Materials used:
K&Co Amy Butler Chipboard Alphabets box, white Bazzill cardstock, K&Co patterned paper, Prima flowers, Making Memories button, American Craft Thickers chipboard alphas, Fancy Pants Designs felt heart, Fancy Pants Designs clear stamp, Stamp-It rubber stamp, StazOn Ink pads, Tim Holtz distress ink pads and some blings and lace.

Hand In Hand

Just finished this layout today, for the ScrappinKids January sketch challenge. I have not done a challenge in a while, and this is my first for this year. The photo of hubby and Nadiah walking hand in hand was taken last December when we visited Taman Pertanian Seri Alam. I thought it was a beautiful shot of them walking together.

Here's my take for the sketch:

Materials used:
Papers: Fancy Pants Designs, Creative Imagination. Chipboard Alphas: American Crafts. Blings: Prima Marketing. Felt embellishment: Fancy Pants Designs, Queen&Co. Stickers: Bazzill, K&Co. Rub Ons: K&Co. Flowers: Prima Marketing. Stamps: Prima Marketing. Ink: StazOn Ink Pad. Journaling card: Hambly Screen Prints

100 Layouts For 2009

Some of my friends are setting up their New Year's Scrapping Resolution for 2009 and I think it's a wonderful idea. I am planning to scrap more this year and to take more photos and this seems like a great idea to pledge to.

Wati is targeting to make 100 layouts for the year. Jazz has hers at 38. Mich is also setting hers at 100 but at a more relaxed pace. Like me, she does a lot of mini albums and altered projects as well. Those would count too, e.g. :

1) One mini album = 5 layouts
2) A simple altered item = 3 layouts
3) A large altered item = 5 layouts.

I think Mich's way suits me better.

100 layouts means an average of 8-9 LOs a month. So far I've done 1 mini album (5), 2 layouts (2) and one altered project (3) as a wedding gift for my cousin, which I will post here once I've handed it to her. So that means I'm at 10 LOs for January today, which also means that I have passed the average figure. Guess I'm doing just great so far....

A Layout and a Mini Album

I had a couple of projects that I've been working on for the last few days. A friend of mine has asked me to make a CD mini album and a layout board, which I just finished a few hours ago.

This is a layout which I made on a 10x10 wooden cake board. I love making LOs on wooden boards because it's sturdier and does not curl when you adhere paper to it using wet glue or heat it with the heat gun. Plus it's a money saver because they cost less than RM2.00 each. I'm not sure if they have a 12x12 board, which would be even better because that way you wouldn't have to cut the paper. I must go check it out.

Anyway, here are some pics:

A close up of my die cut flower and cut out leaves

The album is titled Good Times, with pictures of her and her friends having a jolly good time in Penang. I hope she likes it.

I Hope

Just a simple layout I did a few days ago. I wanted to try out my new tape writer by Dymo which has 3 interchangeable font wheels. And the cool part of it was that it cost me a mere RM 20.00. Good deal? I think so!!

Here I've used the cursive/italic font for the layout.

The layout contest is still ongoing. Please head over to the previous entry and leave a comment if you want to be in the draw for the 3 lucky winners.
