Perth (Scrap-It-Lah)

Recently I went to Perth, Australia for the holidays. I haven't been out of the country in the last 10 years (Singapore doesn't count!) and I was very much looking forward to it. We all had a fantastic time and best of all, I brought back loads of pictures to scrap. Hahaa.. that's what we scrappers always think about, right?

As it is the beginning of July and that means it's a new challenge time over at Scrap-It-Lah. This month we have a Guest Designer coming up with the challenge. She is Issa Virtucio-Lucido. Issa is from the Philippines and a wonderful scrapper. The challenge that she came up with is:

1) at least 5 photos in one layout which means the layout must be multi-pics. There must be 5 visible photos in it
2) Photos must be a mixture of black and white and coloured photos please
3) There should be visible journalling on the layout.

So this is my take:

I decided to use 6 pictures. One for each day that I was there.

The kangaroo is actually a fridge magnet that I bought with the intention of using it in a layout :D.

Some old Making Memories ticket and tags that has been in my keeping for years. How glad am I to destash..

A little stamping to add some 'artistic' look to the layout. And another old Making Memories metal tab.

A mini Australian flag that was attached to Nadiah's little stuffed koala, which she removed because it kept poking her in the face. So I just nabbed it and use it in this layout. Hey... never throw anything, right?

So please hop over to SIL blog to see the details of the challenge and see the wonderful example of the other DTs' work. Come join us in this month's challenge!!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

It's A Jungle (Butterfly Crafts)

Hello everyone.

Photos are of Nadiah playing make believe being in a jungle. Snapped the moment with my phone but it turned out quite good. This is one of the reasons why I scrap. It's to capture and document the little things in life.

I Can't Live Without Your Smile (SIL)

Hello all.

I am back on this lovely day in June to bring you the latest challenge from Scrap-It-Lah. Joining us from June are 5 new DTs from all over the world. I would like to say hello and welcome to

I'm very excited to have you ladies joining us and hope that you'll have a fantastic time in SIL.

I would also like say thank you and goodbye to the DTs who are leaving us and they are Jessy, Wati and Sharm. Michelle has decided to take a break from designing but will still be updating the blog.

So on to the new challenge.... This month we are back with a simple layout challenge. All you have to do is come out with a layout of Thing(s) I Can't Do Without. Please go HERE to see the details and the beautiful samples from the other DTs.

Here's my take:

I mostly used papers and embellishment from Crate Paper's Restoration line. I love how faded and old they look. Goes with that old picture of Nadiah that I used.

So do hop over to SIL and try your hand at this challenge.
In the mean time, have a lovely day, happy scrapping and I'll see you in about two weeks or so. I'm off for a little R&R. Tata!!

Just A Girl (Butterfly Crafts)

Hey everyone.

It's that time of the month again. I mean, it's time for another challenge over at Butterfly Crafts and the challenge is inspired by this Harajuku Doll Fragrance ad. It's funky, it's unique and it's full of fun!!

So this is my take of the ad inspired challenge. I took all that pinkness and ruffles and incorporated them into my layout.

Ruffles that I made using pink organza ribbons. I think it looks much better in real life. My photography needs a lot of practice that's for sure :D.

I love this rub ons by My Mind's Eye. I've had that for a long time, just waiting for the right layout to use it. And it's pink!!

Please check out the details of the challenge at BC BLOG, as well as the fantastic samples from the other DTs. You have until 14th June to create and submit a layout and be in the running of winning a spot for July Guest DT.

Good luck and happy creating!!

I love the whole feel of the layout; sort of fun and sunny although I think I could have done a better job on the spritzing.

Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful Friday and the weekends ahead!!

Living Everyday

Hi everyone. The new challenge over at Butterfly Crafts is up at the blog. This month at BC, the challenge is all about a spring colour palette. You are to make a layout using these lovely colours:

Please go HERE to see the details and the beautiful samples from the Design Team. This is my take on the challenge:

I loved this challenge. The colours are so pretty and a good combo and I had fun putting this layout together. I misted, inked or coloured some elements like the blue flowers, the circle frame and the pink paper lace to match the colours in the palette. Even the word 'EVERYDAY' in that rub ons quote was coloured in to match the blue from the palette.

So do check out this challenge at Butterfly Crafts blog and submit your take and you could be the Guest DT in June!!!

Week 2 Challenge - SIL 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop

Hello everyone!!

It's Week 2 of the Scrap-It-Lah's 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop and this week's challenge is brought to you by... ME!!

This week I have an altered challenge. Nothing too difficult, just an easy peasy one. All you have to do is alter a file folder. Easy right? Just find a paper, or otherwise, file folder and start altering.

Here is mine.

I made this...

THIS

Well.. I used the coloured one rather than the kraft. I made it into a photo album, or rather.. file.

The file is actually longer than A4, but I folded about 4 inches in to make pockets, cut away the extra flap and added a patterned paper page.

Some close ups...

So come on and try this challenge. You can make the folder into anything you want. But remember that this is a ONE WEEK challenge only, so you have until Thursday, 14th April.
Just fill up you name and URL in Mr Linky below for your submission or email me your take at yatiedin@gmail.com if you don't have a blog.

The winner of this altered challenge will be getting this Studio Calico's Babbling Brook kit

Then next Friday will be the start of Week 3, which means a new challenge. Please do come back here to see where to hop to next. In the mean time... happy altering!!

Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone!!

Finally I am able to upload my take on Wati's SIL Blog Hop Challenge. It's a birthday layout challenge and here's mine:

As you can see, I don't have a picture for the layout. That's because Nadiah's birthday will be on the 26th of this month and I wanted to do a layout on that. So I've left the photo and the journaling blank. I will post the finished layout after her birthday.

But here are some close ups of the layout.

I have just now notice that one of the gems has slid down the back of the butterfly. Will have to go and fix that.

The tiny little calender page I got as a freebie from Smidapaper.

The chipboard alphas are a mixture from Basic Grey and Maya Road. They were originally plain chipboard and I misted them with Glimmer Mist (Orange Poppy), but they were a little muted. So I inked them over with Tim Holtz Distress ink (Rusty Hinge) for a richer colour. Then I stamped the letters with Tim Holtz tickets rubber stamp with Blue Teal StazOn.

I love this cute number flags stickers from Jenni Bowlin. Most of the items are from Studio Calico March add on kit - Mossy Knoll.

There are still two days to the challenge so please check out Wati's blog and submit your layout. Then come back here on Friday for the 2nd week of the blog hop.

Happy scrapping!!

Just The Way You Are (Butterfly Crafts)

Hi everyone!!

The first challenge is up at Butterfly Crafts, and it's a sketch challenge. Please go HERE to check out the awesome samples from the Design Team.

Here is the sketch:

And this is my take:

I've used papers and embellishments from Crate Paper's Restoration line, and added a Pink Paislee Artisan circle frame. I just love those Artisan stickers. I have all the collections but seldom use them because it's too precious :D.

Do you like the flower? Made it using flower cut out from one of the patterned papers.

Some painting and stamping just adds some character to the layout.

Butterflies from the Studio Calico cards that came with the kit.
Use whatever you've got, I always say.. :D

The title of the layout comes from the song 'Just The Way You Are' by Bruno Mars, and so does the journaling. It's a beautiful song and it keepts playing in my mind while I was making the layout and I thought why not just use the title.

So do come and play along with us at Butterfly Crafts. The last day of submission is on the 10th April so there's plenty of time still. Hope to see your entries!!!

Oh, on a side note, let's all pay for the the people of Japan for the families and friends they have lost in the recent quake/tsunami disaster. The pictures that has been coming in are heartbreaking to watch. I can't imagine going through what they have.
