The Peace Sign

At the very last minute, I decided to join in the fun at Scrap|Inspire|Create, celebrating their 2nd anniversary. I can't believe that it's been two years already. It seems like only yesterday that I got to know Jazz and she decided to start a challenge blog.

SIC is having a unique kind of challenge with a little twist. Please go HERE to see the challenge and the twist is TWO... anything that represents TWO. I chose Set A which means I can only use products from Webster's Pages, Prima and K&Co only. I'm afraid as of this very minute, if you haven't done the layout, you only have slightly over an hour to finish it and submit. Like I said.. it's very last minute for me :D

Here's my take:

I used, and ONLY used products from WP, Prima and K&Co. I didn't even mist or distress with ink, in case that is not allowed and I'll be disqualified. The twist TWO is the two fingers Nadiah hold up to make the peace sign. The photo is really about the peace sign. I am teaching her to pose with the peace sign when taking pictures. I doubt she knows what it means but it's fun looking at her holding up her two fingers; sometimes with a cheeky grin on her face...

Cat Love

I got my Swirlydoos kit this month full of beautiful embellishment but unfortunately I've been so busy that I've only came out with one layout so far. It's a shame because I got some pretty papers and lots of flowers.

But I am happy that I managed to create another layout based on the sketch by Beggahuna that comes together with the April kit. See the sketch HERE.

This is my take:

See that frame? That's from Pink Paislee Artisan collection. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you do. It's so versatile and I was quite surprised that the texture is actually soft and rubbery. I had imagined it hard. Here I spritzed it with Glimmer Mist and blended in some distress ink, giving it a soft peachy colour.

Here's another product from the kit that I love. It's Prima's dimensional alphas. The letter itself is cream in colour and is made of a shiny lacquer that is soft, somewhat gel-like, and fused onto a piece of white felt. Left on it's own, the letters would have been swallowed by the colours of the papers. So I stick them on my craft sheet and started spritzing generously with my Glimmer mist. Then just dab the access from the letters and leave the felt to dry. And voila!! The colour matches the frame and that big beautiful peachy Prima flower. Nice huh?

I can't wait to use more of the alphas, using different colour mists....

Materials used:
Patterned papers: Webster's pages. Flowers, pearls and alphas: Prima Marketing. Frame: Pink Paislee. Others: Glimmer mists, TH Distress ink, lace trim.

Target: 100 layouts
Done: 33 layouts
To do: 67 layouts

SIL Blog Hop #5

First of all, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who submitted a layout for my challenge in the Scrap-It-Lah Blog Hop. There were 14 beautiful layouts and I know I'm going to have a hard time choosing the winner!!

On to the next challenge... it's being hosted by DT Nadia aka Naddy. She's got a nice challenge for you and a very yummy RAK to win. Please go HERE to see challenge and HERE to see the RAK on offer.

Unfortunately I have not done a layout yet due to time constrain. Been busy with the preparations for the charity, Nadiah's speech therapy and the day to day activities. But hopefully I'll be able to do one soon and when I do, I will post it here.

In the mean time, you have until April 25th, midnight (Malaysia time) to submit a layout for this challenge. And then there's only one more challenge to before the blog hop comes to and end and we will reveal the winners for each challenge. So stay tuned and keep creating!!!

SIL Blog Hop #4

Hi hi everyone!!!

Today is my turn to host Scrap-It-Lah's blog hop challenge. There's been some fun challenges these last few weeks and I hope you've had fun taking part.

Ok now on to my challenge.... *drum roll*...

create a layout that consist of items from 10 different manufacturers. And list them down in your blog post what they are, like I did below.

Here's my example:

Believe it or not, I have eighteen different manufactures in this layout. Let me list them down:

1. Bazzill Basics - cardstock behind the blue pp
2. My Mind's Eye - blue patterned paper
3. Sassafras Lass - patterned paper cutout: clouds etc
4. Creative Imaginations - chipboard alpha
5. Fancy Pants Designs - diamond shaped border and 'many eyes go...' border
6. Crate Paper - thin red circle border under the date
7. Making Memories - number stickers for date
8. Little Yellow Bicycle - green/blue scalloped circle chipboard cut into 2
9. 7Gypsies - 'fun' & 'magic' tiles
10. Jillibean Soup - circle journaling card
11. Pink Paislee - 'dare to be remarkable' rub ons
12. Daisy D's - frame around the photo rub ons
13. Scenic Route - 'fav memories' chipboard
14. EK Success - 'just be you' stickers
15. Hambly Screen Prints - orange daffodil transparency
16. Glitz Designs - flourishes transparency
17. Tattered Angels - glimmer mist
18. Ranger - TH distress ink

I can hear some of you say "That's way too difficult." But seriously it's not. You may have been doing it all these times but you just haven't counted the manufacturers. I'm going to give you some hints....

LAYERS : just pile on the papers.
MIX THEM UP: if you're going to use flowers, choose from 2-3 different manufacturers.

I am offering this RAK to the winner:

S0me conditions do apply:
Please send in your submissions either via email at chowchow138@gmail.com or through SIL comments section. Kindly note that we have 6 challenges for you this month and hence the deadline is much tighter this time. You only have 5 days to scrap this layout and the deadline for this challenge would be on the 20th April, 2010 ( 12 pm Malaysian time). We regret to inform you that we will not be accepting any more submissions after the stipulated time.

Good luck, everyone!!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

NASOM Alor Setar will be taking part in the Charity Carnival being held by the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation in May. We at NASOM Alor Setar have decided to get the kids to make greeting cards to sell at our booth to raise some money for the center. We desperately need some stash URGENTLY for the kids to start making cards.

What is NASOM?
NASOM stands for The National Autism Society of Malaysia. It is a non-profit, non-governmental welfare organisation which was formed in 1986 by a group of parents and professionals. NASOM is a national voluntary charitable organisation and aims at providing education, help, care and protection for people with autism and their family members.

What is the Charity Carnival?
The Charity Carnival is a yearly event that the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation holds to raise money and NASOM Alor Setar has secured a booth to promote autism awareness to the public, to let people know that there is a special center they can send their kids to, as well as to raise money.

What can I do to help?
If you have some stash that are begging to be put to better use towards a worthy cause, why not consider making direct product donations for the usage of the kids at NASOM Alor Setar?

What can I donate?
There are two ways you can donate:

No.1
- cardstock (pre-cut into 6x12 for easier shipping)
- patterned papers (pre-cut into 6x12 for easier shipping)
- embellishment (buttons, flowers, stickers, alphas, ribbons, chipboard elements, wordings e.g. Happy Birthday, Congratulations, Have A Nice Day etc...)
If you have a die cut machine, you can just die cut some elements like flowers using different materials e.g. cardstock, patterned papers, felt, chipboard etc...

No.2
You can make the cards yourself and donate to us so that we can sell them at the Carnival, and help us raise some funds.

How do I send the items?
You can send your donations to:

NASOM Charity Cards
C/O Yatie Tajudin
1055-C Jalan Tunku Abdul Halim,
05100 Alor Setar, Kedah,
Malaysia.

All packages must reach me no later than 8th May 2010 to give time for the kids to put together the cards. If you can email me at yatiedin@yahoo.co.uk to let me know that you've donated some stash, I would be grateful so that I can keep a look out for the packages and confirm receipt.

We at NASOM Alor Setar would like to say a big THANK YOU in advance for your generous donation!!

Using Martha Stewart punch to punch out those cute little butterflies and added some blings.

This is a layout I made for Swirlydoos Round Robin forum challenge for the month of March. I was team #4 and so went last, lifting the layout of the person before me, Maria. Please go HERE to see Maria's beautiful layout.

So here's my take:

Photo of Nadiah giving that baby duck a kiss. But she's actually sitting in the car while the duck is outside with the window safely between them :D

I cut out strips of SEI velvet paper to make the ruffles around the circle. Love that velvet paper!!

Another stamping on acetate, which I'm loving at the moment.

Skate

It's another week at Twisted Sketches and the twist for the week is PATTERN. Please go HERE to see the sketch and awesome work of the DTs.

I choose to go with patterned papers all the way, using Webster's Pages, Home For The Holidays collection.

The Christmas papers were generously given to me by Nad and although I don't celebrate Christmas, there are a lot of other ways to use the papers.

Photos are of Nadiah learning to skate. She fell a few times but I suspect she pretended more than the actual fall :D. I used WP's little alpha stickers to journal "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again".

Materials used:
Patterned papers and alpha stickers: Webster's Pages. Alpha foam stickers: American Crafts. Stamps: Prima Marketing. Others: TH Distress Ink, StazOn ink, Glimmer Mist, acetate.
