Love

Hi everyone!!

Gosh I feel like it's been ages since I last came out with a layout. Since the start of Ramadhan, I have hardly been able to scrap. I am swamped with beading commissions that I hope I'll be able to finish them all by Eid.

Anyway, I did manage to squeeze in a layout to prevent me from going crazy. Here's one I made for (Create) Make It Happen. The challenge for this month is LACE DOILIES. This is actually my first time ever submitting to Create. They always come out with interesting challenges each month and I've never tried before. So here goes:

The photo is of hubby and me taken on out trip to Cameron Highlands last June. That patterned paper is from K&Co's Que Sera Sera collection which I got more than a year ago but never used. I love the papers; they are so bright and beautiful but there's too much detail in them that I never know what to do with them.

Here are the doilies, prettily sprayed with Glimmer Mist (Key Lime Pie, Perfect Peach and Tiger Lily) and inked the edges with different distress ink colours for each.

The title for the layout is from a rub on sheet from Kaiserkraft. Actually the end flourish looks like the letter R, making it LOVER.. :D. Two beautiful sparklers from Webster's Pages.

The quote is also a rub on from Kaiserkraft, whilst the clock rub on is from Glitz Designs.

Materials used:
Patterned papers: K&Co, Prima Marketing, Donna Salazar. Rub ons: Kaiserkraft, Glitz Designs. Flowers: Petaloo. Stickers: Bazzill basics, Creative Imaginations. Journaling card: Fancy Pants Designs. Swirly crustals: Prima Marketing. Buttons: Webster's Pages. Others: Lace, paper doilies, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, TH Distress Inks.

I Now Know...

This month of August at Scrap-It-Lah, the challenge is a reflective layout with the title "I Now Know..". It can be a serious or a funny layout, all up to you. Please go HERE to see the gorgeous layouts that the DTs came out with.

Here is mine:

I decided on an artsy layout with lots of paint (acrylic and crackle), embossing, stamping, inking and a flower I made with Tim Holtz's Alteration die.

That metal frame was a great find from my local haberdasher store and I picked it up for a song! Love it when that happens.

The original colour of the Making Memories chipboard alphas was pink from its Noteworthy collection (old.. old ones I found buried in my stash), and I inked them with Rusty Hinge and Black Soot distress inks.

This layout is very personal and it's about how I see myself grow with the birth of my daughter and what strength she has given me these last eight years.

So do come and join us in this challenge!

Materials used:
Patterned papers: K&Co, 7Gypsies, Prima Marketing, Bo Bunny, Pink Paislee. Flowers: Prima Marketing. Chipboard alphas: Making Memories. Alpha stickers: October Afternoon. Journaling card: Pink Paislee, 7Gypsies. Chipboard element: Technique Tuesday, Dusty Attic. Transparency frame: Luxe Designs. Word tiles: 7Gypsies. Stamps: Tim Holtz Stampers' Anonymous, Stamp-It. Rub Ons: GCD Studios. Others: Stamp-It embossing powder, Tim Holtz Distress inks, Kaiserkraft acrylic paint, Tim Holtz crackle paint and Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch.

The Simple Joy In Life

It's week 60 at Twisted Sketches as off last Wednesday and that means that it was my last week of being a part of the Design Team. It has been a year since I first started as a DT with TS and what a year it has been. I feel kinda sad to be leaving but then again it is time to let go and let others have the chance, and one of them is my very good friend, Nadia. Congrats, Nad!!

Anyway, the twist was JOY, any way, any how. Please go HERE to see the sketch. Here's my take:

The photos are of Nadiah pretending to play in the rain. The 'rain' comes from the garden hose but she had a splendid time just playing with the umbrella. We do this probably once a week. It's one of her favourite activities since she was a little girl.

Everything in the layout except for the title alphas and the sticker 'de-light', comes from October Afternoon's Fly A Kite collection. I bought the kit and love it to bits!! I managed to do 2 layouts and 2 mini albums in all with the kit. Awesome!!!

Materials used: Alpha stickers: Making Memories, American Crafts. Sticker (de-light): Making Memories. Everything else: October Afternoon.

Target: 100 layouts
