Your Smile

I've missed a few challenges by Scrap The Girls these last months, but I'm back on board with their current challenge, which is a sketchy one. The only other criteria is to scrap about girls.

This is the sketch:

And here's my take:

It's a fun, fun, fun layout to make and I just love it!!

I love those leaf shaped pins that I got at a local haberdasher store. They are identical to the Maya Road ones. Awesome!! I also saw one of the MR DTs used the pins in a row like that and I thought it was so cute. The birdie is a cut out from a flocked K&Co paper which I've cut out a long time ago but decided not to use it then.

Scenic Route chippies from my old stash and one that I've adhered a 7Gypsies sticker. That cute kite flying away is from October Afternoon: Fly A Kite collection.

Little girl angel chipboard which I bought 2 years ago from a friend. And there's that leaf shaped pins again.

A beautiful rub on quote from My Mind's Eye.

Photo of Nadiah playing with her rainbow ribbons one day and giving me a genuine smile; one which I did not have to tell her to so.

Materials used:
Patterned papers: American Crafts, K&Co. Puffy alpha stickers: American Crafts. Rub ons: My Mind's Eye, Luxe Designs, Daisy D's. Stickers: October Afternoon, 7Gypsies. Journaling card: October Afternoon. Chipboard elements: Scenic Route Paper Co. Word stickers: EK Success.

Thanks to Mich for completing some layouts using papers and die cuts from Collage Press Knave of Heart collection, that I remember I still have more of the same papers and that particular stars die cut. Just the right one for this week's twist.

Spinning Around

I was looking through my paper stash and decided to make another layout and try to finish off my Webster's Pages papers. I seemed to have acquired a lot of and them this year with those that I bought, some I got as RAKs and others that came in a kit.

So here's one LO I did with 2 WP papers.

The little blue flowers were actually white but I misted with Glimmer Mist Saphire to match the little blue flowers on the paper. The pink ones were originally light green and again I misted with Glimmer Mist Starfish to give that rosy red colour.

I went a visiting over at WP's gallery and saw a lot of scrappers do this.. tearing the paper and inserting lace, doiley etc in the tearing and it looks so lovely. Then added some flowers and beaded strand and voila! Beautiful. So I lifted the idea and I just love it!!

Photo is of Nadiah climbing up on her Uncle G and demanding that he spin her around. Poor guy is almost toppled over by all that weight :D

Materials used:
Patterned papers and journaling card: Webster's Pages. Flowers: Prima Marketing. Chipboard alphas: American Craft. Others: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, some lace.

"Happy Day" and "We Were 17"

Hi everyone!! I'm back again today with a couple of layouts to share. I am really on a roll, here, aiming to finish at least 6 layouts by Wednesday.

Ok the first layout I want to share is one I did using stuff from Swirlydoos July kit. It's an awesome mixture of Basic Grey Capella line with Kaisercraft and gorgeous laser-cut chipboard from Dusty Attic. I based my layout on this month's sketch that comes with the kit, although I only used half of what's in the sketch.

Don't you just love those rocky roses from Prima? They're gorgeous!! I just couldn't help putting a bunch of them together.

Here's another one over here.

Those flat backed buttons are from Webster's Pages. Just lovely!!

The photo I used for this layout was taken on my engagement day. It's one of the happiest days in my life. Such a precious photo taken with my three brothers, my little uncle and my nephew... all the favourite guys in my life!!

Materials used: Patterned papers: Basic Grey. Flowers: Prima Marketing, Kaisercraft. Pearls and journaling card: Basic Grey. Chipboard element: Dusty Attic. Leaves: from local store. Butterfly: Prima Marketing. Buttons: Webster's Pages. Foam alphas: American Craft. Others: Tim Holtz Distress ink pads, Alpha acrylic paint

The next layout I want to share is one I made for Scrapping The Music challenge #143 with the song Santa Cruz by Pearl Jam.

Gorgeous beaded flowers from Prima!! The journaling card is from the the packaging that comes with that Prima swirly pearls that I used.

This time I scrapped about me and my BFFs. Those three have been with me ever since we were 10 years old. This year marks our 25th year of being friends, staying together and being there for one another even when we are all miles apart. Here's to our friendship and hopefully there will be many more years to come. I love you guys!!

**This marks my 50th layout for the year. 50 down and 50 more to go!!!

A Layout of Quotes

I started this layout based on the sketch from Pencil Lines sketch 193. I love the sketch because it has a small area for a photo and it's way up there. Which is something I've never done before.

This is what I came up with:

I'm loving how the tearing and inking effect came out because they kinda look like the "fires of hell" in my title :D. So that's a plus!

Those written words are rub ons by 7Gypsies and I've had that for the longest time because I've been saving it for something special. I guess this layout is special.

The title of the layout is a quote from my favourite book series. Don't you think that's true? To have gone through hardship and adversity and to have survived, only makes you stronger. And to survive the most intense of hell on earth, makes you the strongest individual.

Some acrylic paint effect using a bottle cap and bubble wraps. And the dots are rub ons from Pink Paislee.

At first I only wanted to title the layout with the quote. And as I was looking around in my stash, I found some 7Gypsies stickers with lots of quotes and so I made it into a layout of quotes and sayings.

Materials used:
Patterned papers: Pink Paislee, October Afternoon. Rub ons: 7Gypsies, Pink Paislee. Stickers: 7Gypsies. Chipboard alphas: Creative Imaginations. Inks: Distress inks - Tumbled Glass, Rusty Hinge, Black Soot. Acrylic paints: Alpha. Acetate frame: Luxe Designs. Bow deco: Meslissa Frances. Others: Glimmer Mist

Target: 100 layouts
Done: 48 layouts
To do: 52 layouts

Look!

Ok, here's a layout I did for Scrap|Inspire|Create. For the month of July, the challenge is a sketchy one. Oh.. and NO CARDSTOCK!! I actually forgot the last bit and only remember as I'm posting this on the blog. It's a good thing I didn't use any ;D.

Here's the sketch...

and here's my take:

Flower made from Pink Paislee ruffled ribbon and added a beautiful pearl and crystal center.

I used mostly items from Pink Paislee 365 Degrees which I'm trying to use up, but unfortunately there's still a bunch left. I love that clear sticker border especially and always try to used some.

Photo is of Nadiah at the zoo (yeah, where else?) pointing out the flamingo to us. She loves those flamingos... and the hippos, tigers, lions, kangaroo and whatever animals they have there!

Materials used:
Patterned papers, border sticker, ruffled ribbon, journaling cards : Pink Paislee. Flower center: Petaloo. Chipboard alphas: Creative Imaginations. Swirly crystals: ZVA. Ink: Faded Jeans Distress ink. Others: Glimmer Mist.

Friends Are The Sunshine Of Life

It is week 57 over at Twisted Sketches and the twist for the week is SUNSHINE, with a dose of a long title thrown in. HERE is the sketch.

This is my take for the challenge:

Most of the items used in this layout comes from my Swirlydoos May kit. I love the black and red with a touch of slate blue in this layout. Photo is of me and my two best scrappy buddies although one is very, very shy and hence the cover-up.

The sketch from Anam includes a long title and so I decided to use this quote from John Hay. It hits just right with the photo as these two has really brighten up my life these past few years!!

Materials used:
Patterned papers: Creative Imaginations. Velvet paper: SEI. Alpha foam: American Crafts. Alpha stamps: Maya Road. Chipboard element: Dusty Attic. Rub ons: Pink Paislee. Flowers: Petaloo. Flower centers: Prima Marketing. Brads: Creative Imaginations. Diecut border: from Nad. Journaling card: Pink Paislee.

A Berry Fun Day Mini Album

This month over at Scrap-It-Lah, we are having an altered challenge. You can alter anything you like and submit it in to SIL. But remember that the creation has to be exclusively for SIL.

I decided to go with a mini album, but unlike my recent mini with lots of paints and inks, I went with a totally clean and cute look to document Nadiah's strawberry picking day.

Here's what I made:

The album that I used is Maya Road's 6x6 Binder Book but I only used 5 of the 8 chipboard pages. I've had the album for almost as long as I've been scrapping, having bought it in the early years. I guess it's about time I use it huh?

Anyway, the main items for the whole mini album comes from October Afternoon Fly A Kite collection. It's just so cheery and happy and with strawberry patterns on the papers and the stickers which are just right for the theme of the album.

So please come and join us in this exciting challenge and be in the running to win an October Afternoon Thrift Shop kit collection. Also please hop over to SIL and ohh and ahh over the DTs' creations.

Materials used:
Chipboard album: Maya Road. Patterned papers, stickers, journaling stickers, alpha cardstock stickers: October Afternoon. Felt and chipboard alphas: American Craft. Cardstock: Core'dinations. Chipboard elements: Scenic Route Paper Co. Flowers: Prima Marketing, Petaloo. Others: various ribbons and lace trims, Alpha acrylic paints, Strawberry clear stamp from Craft Stamper magazine, Alpha stamps, Versa cube ink pad, buttons.

Good Times

Yes, I know. I'm two weeks too late for this update but it's been crazy these last few days with traveling and health issues plus a dozen dose of laziness. Anyway, here's my layout for Twisted Sketches #055 which went live last two weeks. The twist was FLAG click HERE for the sketch.

The layout was made with October Afternoon's Fly A Kite collection, which is a cute and happy collection and I just love it!!

Pictures were taken during our recent trip to the BOH Tea Plantation in Cameron Highlands. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. I could just gaze at the peacefulness forever!!

Those flags were made with banner stickers from the collection which I cut out each banner and roll up the end around a toothpick to make them into individual flags.

Materials used:
Foam alphas: American Crafts. Everything else from October Afternoon Fly A Kite collection.
