Mixed Media Mini Album Class

Last weekend, I was asked to teach a mixed media mini album class by some friends and I had an absolute blast. There was a lot of inking, spritzing, painting, laughter, kidding around and basically a whole lot of fun. Here are some photos of the class and of the album that we did.

A few people have asked if I would have another class for this mini album and the answer is: YES!!!

I'll be having another class in July. The date is not confirmed as yet but it will be in KL and on a Saturday. If you are interested, please email me at: yatiedin@yahoo.co.uk by the end of June. The class will be limited to 6 persons only this time. So hurry up and email me and I will give you the details of the class.

It's another week at Twisted Sketches and the twist for the week is ACRYLIC. I had so much fun making this layout that I totally forgot about the acrylic part.. LOL!!! Fortunately I remembered at the last minute and slapped some acrylic paint on the title.

Please go HERE to see the sketch.

Here's the acrylic part. The letters were diecut with Tim Holtz Alteration dies (Vintage Market) - love these!!! I mixed the cobalt blue with metallic silver abn once it's dried, I inked with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Love those beautiful lace flowers from Prima.

That is a HUGE (6 inches) embellished stick pin which came with my Swirlydoos kit. Actually, the whole lot came in the June Swirlydoos kit. It's a vintage theme this month and thus the vintage photo :D

A Walk In The Park

Hello everyone!!

I can't believe that it's the month of June already.. almost half of 2010. How time flies!!! Anyway, a new month means a new challenge over at Scrap-It-Lah. But first, before I reveal the challenge, let me just run by you the change in SIL's Design Team.

Mazlina has sadly left us, not just at SIL but also geographically as she and her family decided to settle in Melbourne. It has been fun working with her and even though she was fairly new in the scrapbooking scene when she started with SIL... but oh my.. what talent she has!! I wish you all the best in life, Maz and hope to see you scrapping and creating again once you've settled down over there!!

With Maz having leaving us, SIL has decided on a new DT, who is diving straight into the new challenge. Amelia is also new in the scrapbooking scene although she has been creating for a long time now. I guess it's only natural that she branches her creativity into scrapping. Welcome, Amelia and I hope that you have a blast working with Scrap-It-Lah!!

Ok now on to the new challenge. This month the challenge is hosted by yours truly and I am offering a yummy RAK consisting of Pink Paislee Queen Bee collection and some other stuff. You can see the picture HERE.

To win that, all you have to do is come out with a WHITE layout. Yes, people... this month's challenge is of MONOCHROMATIC WHITE. That means ALL WHITE. But you are allowed one other colour at a very minimum. Photos can be either coloured or black & white. Remember that white has shades too and I would accept off white or light cream as white as well. And that one other colour can come in different shades too. So you have some choices.

Here is my sample of a white layout... with a dash of Shabby Shutters.

I sat at my scrapping table for half and hour thinking how to make a unique white page and suddenly it just came to me that I could create a background rather than using a plain white cardstock. And in order to make the background 'pop', I went with white embossing powder. The result was wonderful and I just love the look and feel of it.

Then I covered the frame with Picket Fences Distress Crackle Paint, which adds more texture to the layout. And for a different 'white', I die cut the flourishes using my new Tim Holtz Alteration die (oh yeah!!!), and ran it over with Perfect Pearl (pearl colour) mixed with water. It gives a pearly, creamy effect which is just great.

I thought those Creative Imaginations chipboard alphas were too white. so I inked the edges with Shabby Shutters Distress ink to make them less so. And that's my quota for that 'one other colour'.

I love those Prima flowers especially that rose with some clear glitter.

So what do you think? An interesting challenge? If you think so, do join us in creating a white layout and submit your take either by email: chowchow138@gmail.com or post a link to your layout at the bottom of the blog post.

In the mean time, do go and have a look see at the very awesome layouts done by the other DTs HERE. Your world has never been more white!!
