Snow In The Hot Sun

OMG! OMG! I have to post this now.

I just finished a new layout and I'm very excited with the result. I added some 'snow' a la Tim Holtz's X'mas tag#7. It is so easy to make and yet looks so realistic. My mistake was not wearing gloves when applying the 'snow' and by the time I finished applying them, the 'snow' had hardened and I had to give my fingers a real good scrub to get it off.

(If you want to know the whole story of Nadiah and snow and the hot sun, please go here for the adventure :D)

What did I tell you? Nice effect huh?

I love the ones on the tree. In case anyone is wondering, that chipboard tree is from ScrapFX. It's just so cute!!

Dream Big....

Today I made a layout on a Kaisercraft wooden board which I got from Scrappingchix. It was fun and I really took my time in cutting out the flowers and placing them just right. I feel that lately I've been rushing in my work and not really thinking out on the choice of paper or colour combination or placemet of an embellishment. It's been difficult to scrap during the holidays with Nadiah at home all the time and so it was great today, just taking my own sweet time and planning for this layout.

Anyway, here are the photos of the layout:

More Techniques

Ever since I first started reading Tim Holtz's blog, I've always wanted to produce a whole bunch of beautiful tags that I could just look and admire again and again and again. So a few weeks ago, I decided to start one. I was actually trying out some new techniques and decided on the tags with the instruction of the techniques on one side of the tags. Thus, while looking through the beautiful tags, I can flip through to the other side and always be reminded of how I came out with it.

I've done 18 so far, using materials such as TH Distress Ink Pads, Perfect Pearls, UTEE, melting pot, acrylic paints, TH Distress Embossing powders, ordinary embossing powders, little squares of mirror, StazOn ink pads, rubber stamps and lots of embellishments.

Here are the tags:

There are still a few more products that I have not tried my hands at: alcohol inks, distress crackle paints, acrylic paint dabbers and lots more. I can see my shopping list getting longer and longer.. *ka-ching ka-ching*

Altered 2009 Pocket Planner

Since the new year is just around the corner, I did some altering to the cover of a couple of pocket planners for some friends. One I gave it a rustic and distressed look and the other a softer touch with lots of flowers. Hope they like it.

I'm planning to make more to give away so stay tuned... because I have some surprises.

Scrap Space New Look

I've done nothing these past three days but arranging and rearranging my scrap space. It all started because hubby wanted to trade my single narrow shelves with his lower wider one. But because the one I got was broader there wasn't much space to squeeze in the original position. So I decided to turn my scrap table to the side and It is now facing the window, rather than being perpendicular to it as it was before. Here are some before and after pictues:

BEFORE

AFTER
As you can see, Nadiah has already marked her place right in the middle of my space with her cat and watercolour :D

The one thing I have to worry about is to not leave any unfinished work on the table because if it rains, and I forget to close the window... then there would be disaster!

Swim & Slide

Ok, another quick one I did yesterday of Nadiah swimming and sliding (or wriggling around is more aptly put) in 2 inches of water on our flooded balcony one rainy day. I love the pictures that turned out from that day.

Love that DCWV glittered paper that I used.

You Are

I managed to do 2 layouts yesterday. I have not been scrapping for so long that I have loads of pictures piling up waiting to be scraped. I also have not done a layout just for the fun of it. Lately my layouts or projects are done either for a challenge or for DT work. So it was great having to scrap some layouts just for the fun of it for a change.

The first layout I did is called YOU ARE. It's a picture I took of Nadiah in the car on our way back from school and she was just gazing away out the window hugging her cat.

The second layout I made is called YOU * ME. A picture of Nadiah and myself taken during the Eid celebration. I'm always busy taking pictures of her that I don't have that many picture of us together. I love the black Bo Bunny paper that I've used. It's so beautiful. And it's double-sided too. It's ashame that I could only use one side.

Treasure Box

I made this box for a friend's birthday.

As it is a treasure box, of course there should be treasures inside. Yes?

And so I made mini canvas layouts for her which I must say are really, really cute. Scroll down to see how tiny these canvases are.

Eid 2008

I made a clear album for Scrappingville from a kit that I received. It is a 6x6 album and I tried to use lots of paint and limit the embellishments so that the album was as "see thru" as possible.

I think the part that I'm most happy about this album is that I managed to keep the colour theme going which was red, black, white and gold with a touch of green here a there. Incidentally, those were also the colour theme for our family during Eid celebration.
