Song Inspired Layouts

Hello everyone!!

I have a couple of layouts to share today. Both were inspired by songs. Well one is, and the other is actually from a movie. Anyways, here is the first layout:

Justify Full

Inspired by the song "Dream On" by Aerosmith. Love that song!! Struggle to sing the high notes, but it has never stop me from trying every single time, though :D.

Most of the items are from Scrappin Studio's Studio Calico Licorice Twist kit. Lots of Cosmo Cricket in this one.

Next layout:

Inspired by the movie '3 Idiots'. It's a Hindi movie and I have to say that it's one of the best I've seen. The storyline was good, the music was good, some scenes may be unbelievable but hey, there's a morale to be learned and it's very inspiring. I laughed, I cried and pretty much loved the whole story.

In the movie, Rancho, who is the lead character, whenever he wants to calm himself he would
tap his heart and say "all is well" over and over. Only that what he says sounds "al izz vell". It's so funny. Well ok, you'll have to watch it to understand.

Anyway, I've sidetracked quite a bit. Coming back to this layout, I made it using Studio Calico's Lollipop and Pulled Taffy kits. Just love the yellow, teal and brown combo.

That's it for now. Thanks for visiting, everyone. Do come back tomorrow because I have some happy news to share.

A Gift Of Love

Hello, hello.

I am back on this lazy Friday, currently sitting on the floor outside the bathroom waiting for Nadiah to finish her swim in the tub. We were out at the pool earlier and then it started to rain, so she decided to continue her swimming in the tub. Plus I figured I'd better update this blog while waiting before she makes a grab for the lappy.

Anyway, as I mentioned in my previous post, I'm going to share a new layout that I made using a new technique. Well, new for me anyway. It's not that good yet. This is my first try and I'm going to try and try until I get it. This layout is inspired by Anna Dąbrowska -Pękocka or Finnabair and she is a DT with Tattered Angels and Prima. Her work is absolutely amazing. She does this grungy, steam punk effect with her Glimmer Mist and I am blown away by her work. You can see her mixed media work HERE.

This is my 'version'. Please remember that this is my first take and it's a little messy because I think I over gessoed.

I don't really know how she did it. Not sure if she did a tutorial on this particular technique or not. I'm just trying out what I THINK she did. The only thing I got right are the masking.. :D. But I like what I ended up with though. It's a start but I will definitely try to play around with it some more.

So go check out Anna's amazzzzzzingggg work!!!

Be Happy, My Little Lady

Hello beautiful people!!

I have 2 layouts to share today. Actually I have been sooo productive these couple of days that I made not 1, not 2, but 6... yes, SIX layouts!! But I'm only showing 2 today and will share the others in a few days.

Ok, both are from the February Studio Calico add-on kits that I got from Scrappin Studio. First up is Be Happy. Made from a combination of the Lollipop, Pulled Taffy and Licorice Twist kits. Loving the red envelope from Making Memories!!!

I just love that metal vintage flower from Sassafra Lass!!

The second layout that I'm sharing today is My Little Lady. Also made from a combination of the three add-on kits.

How about that black Bo Bunny flower? Ain't it cute? I love it!! And that pom-pom trim? Too cute!!

So that's just two of the layouts I made recently. Next I'll be sharing a special first-try-technique
layout that I was inspired by an amazing scrapper. It's different from my layouts that I've been doing lately. That's in a few days so do come back and check in a day or two, aight!!

Take care and thanks for visiting!!

Sketches 4 Cards and a Contest

This is my last post for the day, I promise. But I had to save the best for last!!

Just released 2 days ago....... drum roll...... Sketches 4 Cards!!! Yeay!!! It's not enough that you've got sketches for layouts, now you have for cards too. How cool is that???

There are 104 sketches and card sample in the full version, which is going for USD$4.99 each. This also includes 12 sketches and samples that comes with the Lite version so that's a 116 sketches and card samples!!!

I did one card for this app. A very big thank you to Anam Stubbington for invining me to participate in this project once again. Check out sketch #079. This is my sample card..

Ok, to celebrate this new release, and to celebrate Valentine's Day and just for the heck of it... I am giving away a FREE CODE for the Winter release of Sketches 2 Scrapbook that was just released a couple of weeks ago. This is the layouts version, NOT the cards version. So if you haven't got it and would love to get a FREE CODE, please leave a comment at the end of this post by Sunday 20th, midnight Malaysian time and I'll pick one winner and announce it by the next Monday. Remember that this app is only for iPhone, iPad and iPod only.

SMILE - A Pocket Mini Album

I love browsing through Prima's Live With Prima channel on Ustream and checking out their previous recorded shows. I always look for Marion Smith's tutorial shows because her creations are always beautiful with lots of flowers and using a lot of paints and distressing. just my kind of projects.

Just recently I saw one of her shows with Prima which was live in October 2011 and she made this beautiful pocket album. I've not make a mini album in a while and so was quite eager to try this one. You can check out the recorded tutorial HERE.

*Please click on the photo to view a larger version

Close up of the tags. I wrote down quotes or sayings on each.

A close up of one of the pages
Instead of using all Prima products, I used K&Co papers and journaling cards. There are some cards from Chatterbox and Pink Paislee too. The flowers are all from Prima, of course. So are the single pearls. But the swirly pearls come from Prima and ZVA Creative.

I especially love the effect of the lace on the edges of the pages. Makes the whole album looks very feminine.. LOL!!!

So do go and watch the video and try to create this fun album!!

Singapore Zoo Series

Last year we went to Singapore and of course the visit was not complete without going to Singapore Zoo. We had such a fun time there and took loads of pictures and I've decided to make a series of layouts to preserve our memories.

I've done three layouts so far and hope to do a few more to complete the series.

The beautiful white tiger. I can't get enough of them. S
pent quite a few minutes just staring at them.

Photo taken of the ibex. Nadiah loves them and was happy
to get to see them in real life.

See the crolls that I've made? You'll notice that two of the triangles are not rolled up but instead are flattened to the paper. That's because SOMEBODY unrolled the tips and flattened them... WITH GLUE!!!

Most of the papers that I used in this series are from Basic Grey's Jovial line, which are actually a Christmas line but the Christmas elements are quite subtle and the greens and yellows and reds just goes with the pictures. I also used chipboard flowers from Sassafras Lass' Garden Bits line in each layouts.

Always On The Phone

This here is a layout I made with my last stash from January Studio Calico kits from Scrappin Studio. I love the photo of hubby that I used as it shows him being on the phone even though we were 5,000 ft high up on a mountain, and nothing seems to stop him from his business calls.

I love those Sassafras Lass alpha stickers that came in the kit. I had actually inked the alphas with Spiced Marmalade distress ink to match hubby's shirt in the photo. But can't actually see it in here.

Materials used:
Patterned papers: Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket. Border sticker: KI Memories. Journaling card: Teresa Collins. Alpha stickers: Sassafras Lass. Stickers: 7Gypsies, Bo Bunny.

Altered Jigsaw and Altered Diary

Hi everyone!!

I have a lot of things to share today but I think I'll break them up into several posts.

First up to share is an 8x8 altered jigsaw puzzle set that I made for my friend Michelle for her birthday last November. Yes, yes, I know... November was ages ago but I only managed to finish it last month and has presented it to her recently.

This piece is supposed to be the cover of a mini album of which DTs from Scrap-It-Lah came out with one page each.

Ok, next up is an altered diary I made for my cousin, Shirin. SHe said she wanted any design as long as it's pretty. Hope she thinks so..

My Love (Scrap-It-Lah)

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!

It's the first day of February and Scrap-It-Lah has brought to you a not-so-typical Valentine's challenge.

"February brings us the month of LUURRVEEEE.... And each year the theme is always LOVE for February and you'll see manufacturers left, right and center brings out Valentine's themed collections. There are almost always red or pink or shades of the two colours. This year for February, our DT Nadia has come up with something different. The challenge is to make a layout with a lovey-dovey theme WITHOUT USING ANY REDS OR PINKS OR ANY SHADE OF THE TWO COLOURS. How's that for a not-so-typical Valentine's challenge?"

I think all the DTs had come out with beautiful layouts this month. Please go HERE to see the DTs' sample layouts and take part in this challenge.

This is my take:

I tried to come out with a fairly vintage layout with a touch of romance, to go with that picture of hubby and me which was taken on our honeymoon more than 10 years ago, and which I usually break out to scrap once a year. Actually we'll be celebrating our 11th anniversary this weekend. It has been a wonderful 11 years with lots of happy days and an abundance of love!!!

Materials used:
Patterned papers: Heidi Swapp, Pink Paislee. Chipboard element: Dusty Attic. Flowers: Prima Marketing. Rub ons: Luxe Designs. Stickers: creative Imaginations. Vintage metal findings: Maya Road, Swirlydoos, Making Memories. Metal frame: Teresa Collins. Crystals: Various. Others: Tim Holtz distress ink.
